My biggest growth in photography

I have always been the person always searching for the positives within different life experiences. Sometimes its harder to find the positives in the moment. Looking back on moments where initially may have felt like a harsh or negative moment, has made me appreciate those experiences for how they have helped me grow and flourish.

Looking back when I had to travel out of town for work across Michigan to the beautiful city of Holland it provided me with an excellent opportunity to just shoot images almost every evening after work then go back to the hotel and edit the photos. During the 9 months I was there I snapped thousands of photos and probably visited every park between Holland

and Grand Haven. I was able to experience the Tulip Festival and see the tulips the weeks before everyone came to Holland to see the festival.

During this time I started listening to podcasts about photography and really started to

understand more about how to see how the camera "sees" light. These podcasts helped me understand expand my knowledge more.

Before I went to Holland I strictly edited photos with Photoshop because that was all I really had. I finally invested in a subscription to the Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop package while I was there and immediately I unlocked and realized the full potential of RAW images. I always had been utilizing RAW images but never really found them particularly advantageous before I had Lightroom.

This opportunity really opened me to a lot of nature and landscape photos. I captured some amazing sights on the west side of Michigan and really enjoyed being able to experience and see so many interesting things and expand my knowledge of photography.
