Cell phone photos
I have always heard that the best camera is the camera that you have on you. It doesn't take a $5000 full frame DSLR with pro glass to make a great photo. It takes a good eye and a toolbox of knowledge of what makes an good and interesting photo.
Now days just about everyone is carrying a camera with them all the time on the cell phones. They are great because you can immediately upload to social media or send a text or snap to friends with a photo. I find myself constantly pulling out my cell phone when I have my Canon 7D MK II. Sometimes i pull it out because I might have a long lense on and it's easier to capture what I need with out swapping lenses. Other times I I take a couple photos so I can upload them to Facebook or Snapchat while I'm shooting. Also I can compare photos between my camera and phone.
Cell phone technology and their cameras have made less and bounds over the past few years. My Samsung Galaxy S8+ has the ability to shoot in RAW. The dynamic range is impressive. I can get pretty darn good photos shooting with it.
It can't replace my DSLR. It does come short when it comes to low light applications. It's more difficult to get a noiseless photo. I have never tried a long exposure on my phone off the night sky. I'm sure it could be done and maybe that will be a future post.
